I’ve been to the festival a few times before, mostly back when the Chron covered news stories in the area, and a couple of times just because I used to work just down the street from the park. It’s a little neighborhood festival – local families can bring the kids to the park and let them play while Mom and Dad watch the dancers, listen to the music, and wander the tables collecting swag and maybe learning a bit about social services in the area. For the social services, they get a chance to get the word out and talk to the locals and each other – lots of “networking.” Me? I get to wander around, shoot pictures of kids, dancers, musicians, and whatnots, and just relax and enjoy the day.
