There… and back.

And over in the corner are a model of the space shuttle with boosters and a wind-tunnel model (note to self: check if wind tunnel model has articulated control surfaces….) (Yes, they’re articulated, but they’re locked down for the display.)

Behind me, exhibits of a couple of spacesuits (not Spacewalk-type pressure suits but cabin wear) and one of the two original ejection seats from early shuttle missions. Interesting note about those: They were removed at the request of the commander of the first four-man crew since history shows that crew members who escaped bombers during WWII had later psychological problems as a result of surviving when their buddies didn’t. (I can also see crew morale and cohesion problems if the mission specialists know that if something goes wrong at takeoff or landing the commander and pilot (who are the only two people who can control the ship) might punch out and leave them to die. It’d mess with MY head….)
