Mid-afternoon, April 21, 1836. Texians form up into battle formation and begin to advance. Santa Anna had ordered his troops to stand down, and they were at siesta... napping or resting. Apparently, they failed to post guards or pickets. The earliest Texian maneuvers were screened by trees and a slight rise in the battlefield, and the Mexicans were unaware that the Texians were coming over the hill.
