Boom!
I missed the flame this time, but caught a lot of the smoke. This is one small cannon firing with low charges of powder. Imagine if you will a larger battle with dozens or hundreds of larger cannons firing full charges. This gave rise to the phrase "the fog of war" - on the field when the cannons are firing, it's almost impossible to see a foot, let alone enough to get a "big picture" view of who's where.
