AWOL
One of Houston's problems during the runup to San Jacinto, as he was withdrawing across Texas trying to get out in front of Santa Anna, was that many of his troops went awol for a few days or a week or more to see their families to safety during the Runaway Scrape. The Texian army wasn't very well trained or drilled anyway, so losing men while trying to get things organized was a serious issue.
