At the foot of the stairs leading up to my second-floor apartment in Houston, the elevation is 16 feet above MSL, give or take. The main runway at Aeropuerto Mariscal Sucre, in Quito, is around 9,250 feet, more or less, and I think the city is uphill from there. It's a noticeable difference. There's not a lot of air in that air, y'know?
